Educational Auxiliary Programs
Conflict & Crisis Resolution
Conflict and Crisis Resolution entails FPA associates de-escalating volatile situations, and resolving fractious interactions between two or more people that have negative affects on their functioning and immediate environment, helping people with extremely difficult life transitions, and facilitating emotionally charged meetings between groups of people.
Performance Enhancement Seminars & Coaching
Over the recent years gate-keepers of fine educational institutes have developed higher expectations of potential candidates. As a result of these higher expectations, potential candidates have become more competitive evidenced by well above average grades, as well as being involved in a variety of community activities that speak to their leadership skills and other broad-based talents. Unfortunately, many of the brightest, gifted, and most disciplined students may fail to realize their full potential, become discouraged, abandon their dreams, and develop psychological problems if they do not develop sophisticated strategies to deal with the stress, challenges, and Competition commonly associated with being academically and professionally successful.
Training the Mind for Success and Competition are missing components in helping students realize their true potential, perform at their optimal level, and continue the pace. The same effort that is given to help a student master calculus and writing composition must be spent teaching students how to navigate and deal with a variety of different social dilemmas, people, organizational cultures, etc.
PMSC™ (Preparing the Mind for Success and Competition) is a twelve day training seminar designed to take academically sound adolescent students, and help them efficiently and consistently perform at extraordinary levels. Some topics covered in this training seminar include:
• outcome based thinking
• advanced coping skills
• goal setting
• imagery and performance
• problem-solving and strategizing
Testing
FPA associates conduct psychological testing to address diagnosis, treatment, reality testing, learning disabilities, placement, and other types of clinical questions. FPA makes use of a variety of different culturally sensitive and scientifically sound testing instruments. The psychological testing service offered by FPA is an extensive and time-consuming process that provides recipients with a wealth of insight, clarity, guidance, as well as recommendations.
Risk Assessments
FPA offers clients comprehensive risk assessments across a variety of different settings, and ways to reduce risks when dealing with a specific person. All risk assessments are informed by the latest research and technology presented at the American College of Forensic Psychology annual conference.
Diagnostic & Clinical Interview
The Diagnostic and Clinical Interview service is a complex process that allows FPA associates to directly assess the needs of clients. FPA associates utilize a structured inquiry technique that is adjusted to fit clients’ current situation and/or difficulties. Some of the typical areas that are covered during the Diagnostic/Clinical Interview include precipitating problem(s), personality and emotional functioning, reality testing, impulsivity, identity, relational style, social problem-solving competence, as well as structure, flexibility, and effectiveness of existing stress coping mechanisms. Subsequent to the Diagnostic/Clinical Interview, caregivers of clients are provided with the following: diagnosis, prognosis, short-term recommendations, and long-term recommendations.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy and counseling services are provided to clients who are feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of life, and/or suffering from clinically significant emotional disturbance. Psychotherapy involves FPA associates leading a client through a talk-based process in which maladaptive thinking, personality, interpersonal behavior, and emotional regulation are explored and amended. An alternative form of psychotherapy is a service coined by FPA as Hip Hop Transformation. FPA associates typically engage youth and young adults in this form of psychotherapy who have been unsuccessful in the traditional form of psychotherapy. All forms of psychotherapy are integrated with PMSC™ skills and concepts to stabilize and enhance client outcomes.
